Meet Julia.
Vanessa Motta’s daughter, Julia, was born with a rare kidney disease and was diagnosed with fibrosis of the liver at a young age. On August 15 of 2021, Julia received transplants of both the kidney and the liver at the age of 11.
“The day that we got the call to go to Houston to get my transplant was one of the happiest days of my life,” says Julia.
Because of the generosity of registered organ donors and their families, lives like Julia’s are changed every day.
“Observed in April each year, National Donate Life Month helps raise awareness about donation, encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those that have saved lives through the gift of donation.” – DonateLife.net
This month, we are joining with Donate Life America (DLA) through sharing education regarding donation, the need for registered donors, and the donor registration process.
The last week of April is recognized as Pediatric Transplant Week, raising awareness for the goal of ending the pediatric transplant waiting list. Read here to learn more about pediatric donation and the waiting list: donatelife.net/types-of-donation/pediatric-donation/
On our Facebook page, you will find a post with a fundraiser for DLA. If you are able, we ask that you join us in supporting this cause.
Below, you will find links to different resources supplied by DLA for further education.
